Al-Naṣīḥa al-Kāfiya of
Sīdī Ahmad Zarrūq

Al-Naṣīḥa al-Kāfiya is a powerful and concise spiritual treatise written by Sidi Ahmad Zarrūq (d. 899 AH / 1493 CE), a renowned Moroccan scholar, Sufi master, and jurist of the Maliki school.

This work, whose full title is “al-Naṣīḥa al-Kāfiya liman Khaṣṣahu Allāh bi-l-‘Ināya” (“The Sufficient Counsel for the One Whom Allah Has Favored with Divine Care”), offers essential advice on:

– Sincerity (ikhlāṣ) in worship
– Avoiding hypocrisy and self-deception
– The dangers of the ego (nafs)
– The proper path to spiritual discipline (tarbiya)
– Balancing outward practice with inward sincerity

Sidi Ahmad Zarruq wrote this text to guide seekers on the Sufi path, ensuring they remain grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah while purifying the heart. It remains widely studied in traditional circles, especially in North and West Africa, and is valued for its clarity, wisdom, and practical relevance for spiritual development.
